Open letter from the Executive Director of Love INC of South Albuquerque
On June 1st I officially became the Executive Director of Love In the Name of Christ ministries. In the past 7 months I have seen the Lord move and make changes within the ministry that I never could have imagined. I am humbled to have the opportunity to work every day with such an amazing group of believers which include faithful volunteers, encouraging staff from multiple churches, awesome pastors, and the employees of Love INC.
Many changes occurred during this time. We were blessed to start the “Money & Me” program in August. By partnering with True North Financial Ministries, we are able to tackle the universal problem of money management and are able to tackle it from a biblical perspective. Praise God! Thank you to the churches who stepped up to help us start this life changing service. We are looking for more churches to participate and help change lives one class at a time. One participant even said, “This is the first time I have written my income and expenses on the same piece of paper, I never planned where my money was going, it was just going. Now I have a plan and can make changes.”
Another opportunity that was on the horizon was to open a thrift store, which God also enabled to happen this fall. Officially called “Renewed Blessings,” the thrift store allows us to not only help fund some ministry activity but enables us to offer vouchers to clients of the Money & Me programs to get them some much needed clothing.
Many days this fall I felt discouraged, and wondered what was going to happen when we were discussing the furniture ministry. The Board of Directors and I reviewed the mission of Love INC and it was determined that we should not be providing direct services to the clients, such as the furniture ministry we were operating. After many hours and countless discussions the decision was made to realign to the Love INC mission, which is to “mobilize local churches to transform lives and communities In the Name of Christ.” God is making sure these needs can be taken care of as well. A few churches from across the city have stepped up, thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus! We still need a few more churches to answer the call so we can ensure all the needs are fulfilled.
The realignment means we are going “live” with the Clearinghouse in January. A Clearinghouse is the screening process used to assess client needs and make appropriate referrals. Since Love INCs goal is to help churches help people, those referrals are to church ministry. The Clearinghouse will be open “live” on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays so when clients call in they can speak with a volunteer right then and there. Approximately one week later that client will be visited by a Helps Team with a packet of referrals to church ministries to help that client with whatever trials they are going through in their lives. Please pray that God blesses this new process and we are able to help many more of the poor and needy in the city of Albuquerque.
We couldn’t do any of this without the volunteers, like you, from the many churches and multiple denominations coming together to transform lives in our city. The need in Albuquerque is great, and if you would join us we could fulfill the Great Commandment. Come down and see the transformation happen for yourself! 2012 is a new year and you can be a part of the great things God has in store for Albuquerque, and for Love INC. We would love to have you be a part of our ongoing story and see what the next chapter holds for all of us.

  SPRING BREAK PLANNING
As Children's Pastor of Sandia Valley Church of the Nazarene I want to share with you the exciting ministry opportunity of our 5th annual Valley Spring Day Camp during the week of March 12th, 2012. Our mission is to provide a Christ centered day camp at no charge for our community. We do this when Albuquerque public schools are on Spring Break. The area is filled with low income, single parent and minority households where the parents must work while their children are on break. Most of the children that attend this day camp are from un-churched homes where negative influences such as gangs, drugs, alcohol, and neglect are prevalent. Since this program is free, it gives opportunity for the impoverished families of the area to provide a safe environment for their children for the week where they might otherwise be wandering thestreets. It is a prime opportunity to reach this at risk group for Jesus and many of these children accept Christ as their savior during the lessons presented. We offer a variety of activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, and Bible lessons along with nutritious lunches and snacks.
As this ministry and the needs of our community continues to grow so does the need for Christian helpers. We would like to invite any ministry partners to join with us in this endeavor. We are looking for counselors, activity directors, drama participants, puppeteers, crafts helpers, etc. If you are looking for an exciting and challenging mission opportunity in the South Valley this is an excellent opportunity.
