Love INC of South Albuquerque began in 2000 as a non-profit ministry called HOME (Hands on Ministries and Education). It was started by three contractors: Wayne Tedford, Matthew Valerio-Hirschfeld and Josh Speakman with a mission of helping churches help needy people in the area of home repairs. Church teams began ministering to the poor, disabled and elderly but often discovered that most families' needs extended beyond home repairs. In 2006 Josh and his wife, Martha, were in Oregon visiting a church in association with her work and heard about Love INC. Soon, after much prayer and study, the board of Hands On Ministries voted to become an affiliate of the 33 year old Love INC organization.
Love INC of South Albuquerque officially opened its Clearinghouse in November 2007. In just over two years the ministry has helped church volunteers become the largest providers of household goods, furniture, appliances and home repairs in the southern part of our community. Clients are being blessed in many other ways by church ministries and volunteers. Currently programs are being developed that will offer our church volunteers opportunities to minister to our clients in the areas of financial, parenting and life skills mentoring. Love INC is committed to helping churches transform lives In the Name of Christ.
On August 3, 2010 we will open the Love INC Ayudando Familia Program at the South Valley Care Net building. We will continue the Earn While You Learn Program and add Love and Logic Curriculum.
